First batch of Japan-pledged grant bus arrives

 (KPL) Seven brand new public buses out of total sum of 42, which pledged to be granted by Japanese Government, arrived in Vientiane on 23 April.

The second batch with an eight-bus is expected to arrive on 26 April and the rest will be here at the end of next month. All of them equip with electronic payment system.

Director of Vientiane Bus Enterprise, Mr. Khamphoun Temelat said the new buses with a 45-seat, air conditioner and current facility will be soon made available for public transport service in Vientiane Capital.

Mr. Khamphoun added that before these buses offering public service, the Vientiane Public Bus Enterprise and Public Works and Transport Department in cooperation with experts of JICA and Japanese company concerned will organise handover ceremony of bus and a training course on proper use bus and maintenance for drivers and Lao mechanics to ensure safe service for passengers.

Deputy Director of Vientiane Bus Enterprise, Mr. Bouapha Phetvisay said the buses will be replaced old one and will transport passengers plying routes between morning market-Dongdok (National University of Laos), Phontong, Nongtaeng, Thongpong, Thaduea, Tha-Ngon and Don Pamay.

The buses will also be made available for public transport in Vientiane Capital, according to reality of road conditions and passengers.
