Vientiane prepares for stagnant water drainage

(KPL) Vientiane Agriculture and Forestry Division has established an emergency project for stagnant water drainage and dyke in Vientiane Capital to cope with the flood during the ongoing rainy season.

The project under the supervision of the Vientiane Agriculture and Forestry Division have been implemented for almost three months by focusing on draining stagnant water and reinforcing for dyke in Vientiane Capital.

The project focused on cleaning and removing garbage out main canals in Vientiane including a 38.5-km stretching from Chomsy Bridge (That Luang swamp) to Houay Pakdeau, a 20-km long running from Houay Saiyang (Don Tiew) to Houay Khem and a 12.5-km long connecting from Houay Vangvad to its sluice and an Houay Khamvan with 8-km stretch to water gate.

The project also improved the dykes with a 12.5-km stretch along Mekong River�s bank, which started from Honsa-Hadsayfong T-junction and a 4-km stretching from the Lao Star TV office to Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge.
