Large pile of logs belongs to whom

(KPL) Local people are worried and doubted about many large piles of logs hiding in a bamboo forest, a way to Bohard village, 5 km away from downtown of Bountay district, Phongsaly province while the government ordered to close the forest.

Mr Khamchanh Sakountava, a National Assembly member to the second constituency area of Phongsaly province told the Lao New Agency during his working visit there on 21 March that he had also wondered why those numbers of logs had not been stamped or have not known sources.

He has only known there was a Chinese business operator joined investment with a domestic company in this district, he said. Therefore he has asked for sector concerned to inspect and investigate those logs.

Actually, the government has already scrapped off the exploitation of logs and closed the forest in this province but the adverse consequence of felling logs in this district seem to be intensifying.

Mr Khamchanh has explained that approximately 300-400 logs were hidden inside the bamboo forest, along roadside have found and have not been stamped.

Presently, the trucks are seems to be operating in this district if this case goes on, the logs will go out soon.

Mr Khamla Phengma, Deputy Chief of Bountay district led the delegations of National Assembly, Ministry of Justice and mass media paid an inspection on 21 March.

The inspection of delegates have found only some Chinese drivers were working there.
