Flood and Landslide in BORLIKHAMXAY

it has been raining heavily and continually from last week which caused  land slide and flood on the public roads and agricultural lands ,especially at some area of BORLIKHAMXAY province, the traffic is dead. the low rice padding was under the water. the relate office has warned 7 provinces in the north and central part which it may at risk of heavy rain and  may continually in the next 1-2 days

   BORLIKHAMXAY transport and public work office reports by Mr thongchan ThamyNavong, vice director of  Transport department.  due to the heavy rain and continued  4-5 days  these days.  rain damaged the road 13 South at the crossroad no 8 to the Namthon bridge ,Pakading. the flood was covered  about 5 km and deep 120 cm. the traffic from 6 am to 19 00 on 28 -7-2003 was dead and impossible to pass at  mentioned points.

    At the same time, it happened a land slide and covered road on road no 8 from  Km 9 to Km 11 and at point Km 51 to Km 54 which  car was unable to pass for a few hours. However, Mr thongchan said, Two points mentioned were recovered and now it's possible to get through. the province sent a team to repair. so far, there is no reports for death and injured caused by this natural disaster.

   Namthon bridge was built between 1988-1999. the edge of bridge toward to Namthon village was damaged and land seems to be damaged largely. the traffic was allowed in a single lane on bridge in order to decrease the heavy and reduce the risk of land damaged. Meanwhile the agricultural land, specially the rice field of people, it has been reported that, many Hectare is under  water" added Mr Thonchanh.

   However, Yesterday (29 /7/13)  Meteorology  and Natural disaster department ,Ministry of  Natural  resources and environment  has issued a warning :there will be raining continually in the next 1-2 days, but at the middle level to Heavy level, West part of Northern Laos to Central part ,especially in Luang namtha province, Borkeo, Oudomxay , Luang prabang,Vientiane, Borlikhamxay and Khammuane.

   This warning is important for local government, civilian who residents in places where has been mentioned, to pay attention and be careful with the heavy rain, Landslide, the water flow to cause danger to Travel on road, Lives, Properties.

At  Longsan, Namsan, Namsong vientiane province and on the area of Seibangfai district, Khammuane, The Meteorology and Natural disaster department warns: the water level is close to reach a  dangerous mark and its trend to be higher and risk at reaching the dangerous  mark  in the next 1-2 days. therefore, the people who lives along the river banks, Namsan, Namsong, Nam Ngep,Namsan and Seibangfai should move their belongings, Animals to the highest place and be careful with the flood which may happen and follow the weather forecast regularly.
