Salavan province is one of the province where was bombed largely during the Vietnam war, Until now the unexploded bombs remain found under the agricultural lands. according to Vientianemai , the impact on land used caused by bombs reached 600,000 Ha and it has been removing about 4000 ha for now and the planing of Govt will be planing to remove about 400 Ha in 2013 and which has been removing 200 Ha so far.
