(KPL) Bank of Lao PDR launched a new banknote is valued at 100,000 kip to circulate in society in response to the basic demand of the ongoing growth of economy and facilitate transaction in the domestic market.
The new banknote will be officially used in society next week, said General Director of Currency Department of Bank of Lao PDR, Mr. Souphat Khotyotha, on 25 January in Vientiane Capital.
The issuance of new banknote has been implemented, based on Minister to Government Office�s announcement on printing a 100,000 kip new banknote to use in the society, No 26, dated on 5 January 2012.
The similar new banknote has been second printed, the first batch of banknote was printed in limited amount late last 2010, to memorialise the celebration of Vientiane 450th anniversary, said Mr. Souphat.
The second printing is made in response to a high demand of socio-economic development moves upward and implementation of a policy on promoting the use of kip currency, he explained.
The general notice of new banknote reflects a nation symbol, national characteristic of long history and Lao fine culture.
�Front side of new banknote is appeared the photo of the late President Kaysone Phomvihane, a logo of nation, That Luang stupa and pattern of Lao art. On the back side is noticed a photo of Kaysone Phomvihane museum and pattern of Lao art.�
Mr. Souphat added that new banknote was printed by special paper with good quality is designed with a high security system.
