(KPL) Forty-seven houses in Khonkene village, Parklai district, Sayaboury province, were damaged by a tropical storm on 28 April.
Party Secretary of Parklai district, Mr. Sisomphone Chongsily, disclosed that the tropical storm uprooted 47 houses in Khonkene village, a primary school, a kindergarten, 15 medium voltage poles and 10 low-voltage poles.
He continued that 180 people in the village had been left with no electricity supply for days. However electricity officials are concentrating on repairing electricity system back to normal as soon as possible.
Students in this village moved to take class in village temple as a consequence of the bad damage to the school roof.
However district authorities are accelerating the repair of the roof of the primary school and kindergarten which is expected to complete soon.
Mr. Sisomphone further stated that the local people had asked for assistance from district authorities, including corrugated iron sheets and wood and nails to rehabilitate their houses.
The damage cost is estimated at 240 million kip, according to the district authorities’ assessment.
At the present, the district authorities are mobilising funds for helping victims.
