Road death toll rose
(KPL) More than 40 people were reportedly died of road accidents during a long last week�s celebration of Lao New Year or Pimai, if compared to previous year�s road death toll upward.
A total of 340 road accidents occurred countrywide from 11 to 18 April, according to Monday�s report of the Department of Traffic Police attaches to the Ministry of National Defence.
The report said the road accident killed 43 lives, 75 critical injures and 569 injures. It also reported that 354 vehicles were broken, 365 were considerably damaged and 14 were badly damaged. The death toll was noticed that it rose to 23 persons compared to the same period.
In Vientiane Capital was reported that seven deaths, 25 critical injures and 66 injures were attributed to the occurrence of 90 cases of road accident, of which 178 vehicles were damaged.
The drink and drive was still main cause of road accident, followed by fast driving and violation of traffic rule.
