Khammouane prepares for resettlement in Theun-Hinboune hydropower plant area
(KPL) Mr. Khambai Damlath, Governor of Khammouane province, and his delegation recently visited and talked to people of Thana village group, Hinboune district, which is an extending area of the Theun-Hinboune hydropower construction project.
The new resettlement for the people in six villages of the village cluster will be jointly made by the government and the Theun-Hinboune hydropower project in early 2011.
Mr. Somchay Keodouagdy, Party secretary of the Thana village group, disclosed that the Theun-Hinboune hydropower project had recently provided a number of assistance to the people in seven villages who are living along the Hinboune River. These included 50 percent of the fuel price for dry season cultivation and some fund for frog and fish raising.
During the meeting, the people have asked the provincial administration and authorities concerned to build a primary school, road, electricity, clean water and provide them with some farmland.
