Xi spoke positively of the robust development of China-Laos relations, which have featured frequent high-level contacts, a deepening of political mutual trust and rapid growth in bilateral trade.
The two countries understand and support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests, and maintain close coordination in international and regional affairs, Xi said, adding that sound bilateral ties have brought substantial benefits to the people of the two countries.
With next year marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral ties, Xi called on the two nations to seize the opportunity to strengthen mutual trust and enhance cooperation in such areas as culture, tourism and youth exchanges.
Choummaly thanked China for supporting Laos' economic and social development, and expressed willingness to further deepen cooperation with China in economy and trade, investment and education.
